Saturday 24th August

Reports of a boat on fire off Filey. ALB launched and searched area along with Rescue Helicopter 128, nothing was found but a vessel was reported to have been making lots of smoke while passing Filey bound to the South. Both returned to their stations, a false alarm with good intent.

Wednesday 14th August 

The Alb was put on standby to assist the Ilb with the search for a missing girl, it was not needed as the girl was located shortly after the Ilb launched. 

Tuesday 13th August

9m fishing coble "Energy" with engine failure due to electrical fire, 6 miles South East of Filey with 2 persons onboard.  Vessel located and towed back to Filey

Saturday 3rd August

Whilst at sea on Lifeboat Day, Both boats asked to investigate reports of 3 persons in water at Reighton Sands, they had been thrown out of inflatable dinghy after it had turned over in surf. As both boats proceeded it was found all persons had made it safely back to the beach so with no further assistance required both boats returned to the Lifeboat day exercises

Sunday 28th July

Standby to launch to 10m yacht 18 miles East of Filey, becalmed with engine failure. Lifeboat not required at time so crew stood down.

Yacht was towed in 3 hours later, further to the North by another lifeboat.

Wednesday 24th July

10m potter "Magic" with gearbox failure 2 miles north of Filey, 2 persons on board.  Vessel located and towed to Scarborough.

Tuesday 9th July

9m fishing coble "Jane Marie"  2 miles north of Filey with gearbox problems.  2 persons on board, vessel located and towed to Filey.

Duration of service 1 hour 30 minutes

Weather:- Wind variable 1/2  Sea smooth

 

Relief Lifeboat  RNLB 12-21 "Margaret Jean"

Thursday 6th June

10m Potter "Shannon" 2 miles South East of Filey, with engine failure, 3 persons on board. Vessel located and towed 10 miles to Scarborough harbour.

Duration of service 2 hours 30 minutes

Wednesday 5th June

10m Potter "Magic" 3.5 miles South South East of Filey  with engine failure 2 persons onboard,  vessel located and towed 12 miles to Scarborough harbour

Duration of service 3 hours

Monday 3rd June

13 Metre Yacht " Sea Fever" becalmed and  with engine failure 4 miles East of Filey with 2 persons onboard.  Vessel located and towed 10 Miles to Bridlington were the vessel was moored alongside in the harbour.

Monday  3rd June

Whilst returning to station from Bridlington a report was recieved from the coastguard that  a local dive boat  had close to him a  sailing dinghy  that was dismasted,  in a position 1.5 miles South East of Filey.   The lifeboat was sent to investigate, they found a 4m Catamaran dismasted with 2 persons onboard.  A tow was attached and the craft towed back to the beach at Filey were the tow was passed over to the local sailing club rescue boat

Saturday 6th April

Reports of a missing person at Blue Dolphin Holiday Park.  Area searched along with the ILB, RAF Rescue Helicopter 128 and Filey Coastguards. The person was located safe and well ashore. Both lifeboats returned to station.

Saturday 30th March

9m Fishing coble "Jane Marie"  2 Miles North of Filey with Fuel problems,2 persons onboard. Lifeboat located coble and towed it back to the beach at Filey.

Wednesday 20th March

10m Fishing vessel "Silverwood" 4 miles South East of Filey with engine failure 5 persons on board.  Vessel located and towed 10 miles to Scarborough. When the lifeboat arrived at the "Silverwood" it was discovered two of the persons onboard were from BBC Radio York, they were making a programme, called "Sense of Place" and were transfered to the lifeboat were they carried on recording and interviewed the crew as part of the programme.

Monday 26th February

9m Fishing coble "Sharon Ann" 2 miles East of Filey with fuel problems, 2 persons on board.  Vessel located and towed back to Filey

9m Fishing coble "Kathryn and Sarah" retrieving crab pots in shallow water and poor weather.  Lifeboat stood by coble until gear had been retrieved then escorted her back to the beach, 2 persons onboard.
